Spike is out and about, installing Ethernet cables in Hereford:

As family-run business of network installers in Hereford (and other other services), we frequently meet with people who want to improve their Internet performance. Let's face it - who dosen't? Whether it's keeping the family happy and connected, or keeping the business running smoothly, a reliable network connection is essential. Installing an ethernet wire may appear easy, but various factors can affect its performance. In this blog article, I'll discuss my experience with the installation process.

So what's to know about Ethernet cables?

Before we start any installation, we need to pop in to determine the type of ethernet cable you need. The cables we use are Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7. Each type provides varied speeds and bandwidth, making it suitable for different environments.

  • Cat5e cables can enable network rates of up to 1,000 Mbps, or one gigabit per second. This is sufficient for everyday household tasks like internet surfing and streaming videos.

  • For more load requirements such as: 4K streaming, gaming or video conferencing, Cat6 or Cat6a cables may be worthwhile. It's also a thicker cable. Cat6 supports bandwidth up to 10 Gbps, a big increase from Cat5e.

  • Cat7 performance builds much more then on from Cat6. Building the capabilities for sophisticated 10G+ networks.

Having a look at the job

When asked how much it costs to install Ethernet cables, I've said a few times, No two premises are same, and some provide unique obstacles.

When we meet, we'll have a quick chat and then let me know what you're trying to achieve, and then we'll arrange a route for the cable.

Come and watch us at work. Here's some of the techy tools we use.

  • Cable Stripper: This tool is essential for removing the outer jacket from the cable while avoiding damaging the inner wires.

  • Crimping Tool: This is required for properly attaching RJ-45 connectors to cable ends.

  • Cable Tester: A cable tester ensures that connections are intact before the final installation is completed
